About Me Statement:
I am a passionate student-athlete with a desire to be the best version of myself and impact the people around me in the best way possible. I have a strong leadership history and am an advocate for servant leadership. I believe all great leaders need to be willing to be led by others. A leader is never done learning and should always have an ear out for new advice and direction.
As a journalist, I want to put people and their stories first. I find enjoyment in telling people’s stories and putting the spotlight on people who deserve it. Too many hard-working people go without recognition for their hard work, and I think more journalists should aim to bring light to these spaces. My main mediums have been photography and videography in competitive sporting environments, this is where I’ve gotten my best results and been able to put my work out on social channels. I’ve found my best results on Instagram and have been able to build a foundation of followers who interact with my media. I’ve established a profile built on constant improvement and learning through doing. I want my brand to be all about integrity and development.
As someone going into coaching next year, I want to be focused on building positive relationships with other coaches and my athletes. I will achieve this through positive interactions and a focus on learning how other people learn best. I subscribe to the mustard seed belief of relationships. You water it little by little until eventually you see rapid growth. I’ve learned this through my volunteering with Jacobs Well Church as a high school small group leader. Strong relationships build a space for learning and conversations. Kindness and understanding should overshadow everything else, and those are the qualities I will value most as a leader
